Our Crew

Mycelium: Action Infrastructure has a crew of super-keen activists who are taking responsibility for nurturing and building movement infrastructure. We hold the purpose, strategy and our ways of working; seed new groups; and build connections between the broader progressive community and the Mycelium.

Our crew brings together people with a diverse range of skills, experience and knowledge. We each have a deep commitment to finding ways of building connections and capacity as we face social and environmental permacrisis.* We know that taking action is our way forward and this is best done in community and within a culture of care. We recognise that we have much to learn from other cultures, especially from First Nations; and from confronting our history in ways that open us up to new ways of being with the land, community and culture.

At a personal level we are embedded in a range of communities. Some of us are in paid employment, some are studying, and others volunteer in different organisations and groups. We have responsibilities to people we care about including partners, children, grandchildren, parents and friends. And we take time for ourselves to do the things we love – play music, go hiking, make textile crafts, do some guerilla gardening, hug a tree, exercise, meditate and – you get the picture! Amongst all of this we enjoy working together and making time to do the work associated with nurturing the Mycleium.

We also bring to this work our own varied activist histories. Between us we have been involved in many struggles and movements including feminism, anti-uranium/anti-nuclear, First Nations campaigns, trade unions, climate and environmental organisations, climate justice, social justice, anti-fascist, peace/anti-war, LGBTIQA+ and more! More recently our crew members have been active with:

* Permacrisis - the Collins Dictionary 2022 word of the year. It depicts an extended period of instability and insecurity, especially one resulting from a series of catastrophic events.
